F4 Camera Mount

Problem
In 2024, the new generation of Formula 4 cars began racing in the US F4 Championships. During the racing season, teams expressed a various frustrations, one of which was the current camera-mount system. The original mount shipped with the car did not allow for the camera to show, within its field of view, the display on the steering wheel and the driver's full hands, as required by the series regulation.
Solution
In Spring of 2024 US NG Racing approached and requested the creation of a camera mount that would meet series regulations, so a new mount was developed that moved the camera forwards, tilted it down 4 degrees, and was slightly more aerodynamic than the original.
The mount was tested by 3 different racing teams and their feedback resulted in the development of 5 generations, the first, and final version being shown below and the third in the image above. Unfortunately, the development program ended before the fifth one was tested in the real world due to a customer base that was too small which led to a pivot in business plan.
The highlight of the development process though, was Atlantic Racing winning a race with the third generation of the camera mount installed. An image of the podium can be seen below.
